COLUMN 1: ACCOUNT NUMBER

The first column of the table contains a coded list of all valid account numbers, organized by ledger number (first digit), and then by account control or subaccount (last four digits) within ledger number.

The codings used in the account number are as follows:

X = any digit 0-9

R = any digit, or series of digits, from the valid ranges of R in columns 2 and 3 of the table. Two RRs are replaced by a two-digit number; three RRRs are replaced by a three-digit number; and four RRRRs are replaced by a four-digit number.

COLUMN 2: Rs in ACCOUNT ID

Rs in the Account ID (positions 2 through 6 of the account number in column 1) are replaced by the range(s) in column 2. The number of Rs indicates the number of digits in the range.

COLUMN 3: Rs in ACCOUNT CONTROL or SUBACCOUNT

Rs in the last four positions of the account number can be replaced by the range(s) in column 3.

(Note: In the General Ledger (Ledger 0), the last four digits are called the "account control." In the subsidiary ledgers (Ledgers 1-9), the last four digits are called the "subaccount.")
