Administrative Announcement

TO: University Directors

SUBJECT: International Activities Coordinating Committee Established
DATE: March 8, 2004

Richard Saller, Provost, and Donald Reaves, Vice President for Administration and CFO have established the International Activities Coordinating Committee to assure that the University conducts its international activities appropriately. The Committee will conduct an ongoing risk assessment to existing and proposed international programs. The focus of the Committee will be on the administrative components of International Programs.

The Committee must first develop an inventory of international activities. Please help by completing the brief survey form for each activity that meets one of the following criteria at http://adminet.uchicago.edu/adminaud/int_audit/survey.html:

  1. The program has 10 or more participants (including faculty, students, staff, alumni, colleagues from other institutions or other friends of the University) with a duration of 30 days or more

    OR
  2. The program cost exceeds $100,000 in any one year in expenses or purchases outside the United States

    OR
  3. The program involves any one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bosnia, Burma (Myanmar), Burundi, Central African Republic Columbia, Cote d'Ivoire, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Nepal, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Tajikistan Yemen, Zimbabwe

This request is being sent to all vice presidents, deans, directors, chairs and area center directors. Please forward this to anyone who may be aware of an international program of interest.
